Match the nut to the bolt’s thread pitch, size and property class — a class 8 nut pairs with an 8.8 bolt, class 10 with 10.9. Confirm the coating system for the service environment: zinc for indoor, hot-dip galvanizing or Dacromet for outdoor, and A4 stainless for marine or chemical exposure.
